Dressing for the Weather
We want to remind families about the importance of having your children dressed appropriately for the weather. All grades go outside as part of the play-based curriculum. They also go outside most days at lunchtime as well. Even though some days are sunnier and getting a little bit warmer now, outside winter clothes, especially boots, are still required for outside play at school.
eNLightenED
We encourage families to explore eNLightenED, an interactive platform designed to keep you informed about your child's daily lessons. View the latest Newfoundland and Labrador K-12 curriculum standards and related resources all in one place.
Digital Resources from Common Sense Media - Helping Kids Understand the News Around Them
Kids are growing up in a world where major news reaches them quickly, and often without much context. So Common Sense Media have been looking closely at what helps kids make sense of what they hear, what they see, and what they feel when big stories dominate their feeds.
One place to start is with the skills that help kids understand the news, rather than feel overwhelmed by it. Helping them build news literacy, whether at home or in school, means giving them tools to ask questions, recognize reliable sources, understand how stories are framed, and notice how coverage affects their emotions. These skills can make a real difference in how kids interpret what they see online and how they talk about it with others.
Read their parent's guide to building essential news literacy skills for today's kids.
